Bakumatsu Pictars EN MASSE. Hotness! Angst! And Mami at the center of it!

Please, God, please?

Thanks to [ profile] sumirepanther for pointing out. <3

This so makes my day. :D It's so much more than I expected. ^________^

Oh, Mami-chan. <3

Plus, both in costumes.

Tomorrow is premiere... I'm sad, but also excited and waiting for pictures reports to come in.

* I only now noticed that for the '99 Special, Mami was wearing Miki's suit AGAIN (like she did before, which left Tamo the choice between the tsuki and the hoshi suit, and she chose Noru's. Otherwise it may have looked to much like an exchange or mistake. :P Tom and Zunko properly wore their respective troupe colors. :D

* There is a lovely Aqua5 music video on niconico douga.

* For those who haven't seen it yet, pictures of Mariko and Tamo in their Cinderella costumes.

* For those who haven't noticed yet, Mami and Tartan have been double-casted for the role of Susan in Desperately Seeking Susan. OMG. There's Ooura, too. OMG.

And thank you SO MUCH for the good wishes and lucky vibes.
m(_ _)m ♥ ♥ ♥
You are the best. <3

I have two options secured now and should be able to make a calm decision over the weekend. I should also have the time now to make some screenshots of "Beautiful Beast" and "Time Adagio". And maybe some scans... so look out. ^^

I'm also suffering from Hiromi deprivation. Can't wait for the Aqua5 and Berubara DVD's to be released. Dammit. Hurry up, Hankyu.

Pictures & Interview:

Is it wrong to think of them as cute couple? :P

Mami doesn't seem to mind at all having a younger, female partner again. ^^

And... yet another interview with pictures:

I'm having a hard time / not time to even get the gist of it, but the pictures are big and pretty.

Some pictures of Mami, Tamo and Noru visiting "ALPHA" :P

Along with some dialogue transcripts that I'm too lazy to even try to figure out.

And, in case you've never seen it:

Mami and the longest (natural) hair I've seen on her so far.

Almost looks like in her teenage days. XD

kyanited: (Mami + Rika = OTP)

1. nico now has a マミリカ tag. :)

2. There is only one video with that tag. :(

2a. It's "Gypsy in Black". One of the scenes cut from Le Bolero Rouge for copyright reasons. :)

3. They have a small duet (dance) together. :D

And to think Mami isn't all that tall herself.

A rough translation of the text makes me grin. XD

I hope I'll get the chance to see this interview some day. :D

What a pretty couple. XD

Oh, how quickly some wishes are granted!

I wanted to do that for a while: A collection of [almost] all my icons.

Took me a while to prepare and edit the code for this.
LJ actually has a size limit for posts. -____-

426 icons, 12.6 MB, some animated. (Completeness took precedence over prettiness.)

Kya's Icons: Editor's Cut. )

You're free to use any of them, but

1.) Please let me know which ones you're taking.

2.) Please let me know if you plan to use them as bases.

I'm floored. Completely flattened. Like a pancake under a truck.

Rika Memorial Book arrived today and... yeah, it chiseled a grin on my face the size of Texas.

I'm a little bit jealous that it seems to be a much much more comprehensive recollection of her Takarazuka career than Mami's memorial Book is of hers, but that's so minor it fades quickly as I turn the pages of Rika-shininess. This book is 180 (!!) pages of happy making. Mami's is only 110; granted, it has less text and more pictures, but Rika's has complete GRAPH and Kageki articles where Mami's only has extracts (which also means less pictures from articles). Ah, but Rika. Oh, so much Rika love I have to be careful. *eyes Jen and tones it down* *cough* Yeah. Nice. Verrrrrrrry niiiice.

A first, superficial comparision of the books makes me think they appropriately reflect each 'siennes personality. So I'm happy. And so glad I finally let myself be tempted by the title picture of Rika's book. XD

Ok, what else was in the package... more Mami doujinshi. ^^ <3 And "Eden". Yays!! And, and... Yumiko. YUMIKO!ELIOTT. FINALLY. <3 <3

The sad thing is I won't be around until Sunday night to properly marvel and appreciate. :(

Dammit, I'm so tempted to skip the trip and watch Yumiko instead. Woe, woe, woe ~~~

From Mami & Rika's Dual Legend article:

真琴: 音楽学校時代は眠い印象しかなくって、起きてなかっただけなのよ。

[Mami was famous for sleeping a lot, she even managed to fall asleep during ballet class...]

Picture: It was Mami's first oversea trip. Destination: Hawaii. She associated Hawaii with blazing sun and roaring sea. But when she got there, she was drenched in heavy rain. In only one night, during the rainy season, her image of Hawaii as the eternal summer paradise collapsed. It was so cold that "even the beach was purple." LOL. Back at the airport, she was tired, of course.

(Those who can read it are envied and the rest can go and look up one or more transguesstimations, it's not hard to get the gist of it. I typed it off a scan for just that reason. XD)

The situation:
It's 1996. Mami and Rika have been in Hanagumi together from 1986-1993. Mami was moved to Tsukigumi in 1993 but joined Hanagumi (and Rika :P) for the London performance 1994. Rika has just been moved from Hanagumi to Hoshigumi in 1996.

Didn't take them long to get back together after this. :)

Mami will follow Yuri, Rika, Wataru and Wao and continue the line of OG's who play male roles. <3

She will play the role of Sakamoto Ryoma in August in Bakumatsu Juunjouden (Bakumatsu Jyunjyoden, "(An Innocent Episode in the Last Days of the Tokugawa Regime") - another shinsengumi-related story.

Sakamoto Ryoma is the opponent of Okita Souji.

The artcicle [ profile] sumirepanther linked me to also mentions Japanese dance, I think. ^^

Yay Mami. <3

PS: In the 1991 movie version of Bakumatsu Juunjouden, Okita Souji is a boyish woman.

In a 2003 stage production Okita was played by a woman.

In this 2008 production, Okita is played by Ishihara Satomi - a woman. So... Mami would have the male lead...? ^^

IMDB plot summary of the 1991 movie:
In the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate, there was a cute warrior, Souji Okita, who belonged to the armed police of the shogunate in Kyoto. Very few knew that Souji was not a boy, but a woman. Souji loved the vice-leader of the armed police, Toshizou Hijikata. Souji suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis and coughed up blood during a battle. Toshizou helped her but said that he did not care for the girl with a smell of blood. Souji had a real talent for swordsmanship and no one but Ryouma Sakamoto could compete with her. Ryouma was a liberal intellectual and tried to carry out a revolution without blood. However, the bloody Meiji Restoration broke out and Souji killed Ryouma who lost his dream. Because a friendship had sprung up between Toshizou and Ryouma, Toshizou got angry and slashed at Souji with a sword. Unwillingly, she unsheathed her sword and thought that she might get love if she was killed by the man she loved.

ETA:We are informed that there will be an intense love scene between "Okita Satomi" and "Makoto Ryoma".

I'm starting to think about what to get myself for birthday this year... ~~~~

I can't help it. I just love this woman to pieces.

A cookie for anyone who can tell me who accompanied her yesterday to 「A”R”ex」.

Two for the one who can link me to a picture. :P

Oh, and a chocolate chip cookie for Becca for telling me that Mami was there. <3

kyanited: (ZNN)
Eh, so I *think* them solving the Yuuhi issue by moving her to Hana means we'll keep Yuuhi for a while longer. I was afraid with things being as they were that she'd leave together with Asako.

Best case would have been Yuuhi going for Tsuki kumichou, but that's still not out of the picture. :)

I always thought demotion isn't really an option; so I'm curious to see what will happen, if it's really the demotion it seems to be at first glance.
I'm generally more curious than upset or angry by changes. They're all adults capable of making their own decisions based on the set of options given. And there are always at least two options.

Anyway, a far more fun subject for speculation is HIROMI AS SNOW WHITE. Will she wear a dress? A wig? Will the dress be white and long and fluffy and all princess-y?? ^^ I hope so. <3 XD

Also, squee-inducing clip for Silver Rose Chronicle is up. I LOVE YUMIKO. I need the DVD. Jan. 20th is definitely too late for my comfort. What's taking them so long?

My parents stayed around to watch big parts of Practical Joke with me (I knew they'd like the music :P). They now refer to Mami as "our friend". After that I only showed them revues and by now they know that Komu, Mizu, Yumiko, Kimu, Hamako, Kashi, Rika, Osa, Asako, Kiriyan and Yuuhi are NOT "our friend". XD <3 I love my family.

In TakaWiki news:
I set up a temporary Mami profile here to play around with it until the real thing is back up. I hope Pam and Aya don't mind me using their pictures. If they do, I'll take them down.

When I'm home, I will zip the pages I saved from google page together with an index and post it to [ profile] takawiki_news. It seems that pages are already disappearing from the cache. :(

kyanited: (koitengu not amused)

The happy comes with some sad.

The good news is that last week Mami and Rika teamed up in a talk show for a senior/junior team talk battle somethingie-ish. Their opponents were two women from the Japanese Women Wrestlig Team.

The bad news is, unless I've gotten it completely wrong, that one of the wrestlers, Jaguar Yokota, kept picking on Mami... so much that the showmaster had to rein her in. :( Poor Mami. She looks... flabbergasted. *hugs and cuddles her fiercely*

In fluffier news: The Aqua5 housepage has been updated *AGAIN*. Although Weekly Aqua5 had another entry from Mizu yesterday (the entry's picture was a different one yesterday o.O) there is a new one today with lots of pictures of Holy Night With Aqua5 Takarazuka (note the "Next" button at the bottom). <3 <3 Unfortunately they're not too terribly big, but nevertheless very full of delighting squee.

(All images are thumbs and upon cklickage lead to slightly bigger versions.)

May 1998, TCA Special, all top stars in Gen's favorite Takarazuka costumes:

May 1998, TCA Special, Maya Miki:

May 1998, TCA Special, Makoto Tsubasa:

August 1998, MIX Dinner Show, Makoto Tsubasa:

And then she downright stole the tux from Tamo in the '99 Special:
May 1999, TCA Special, Makoto Tsubasa & Aika Mire:

Now one could argue that maybe she felt a little nostalgic and chose to wear her old troupe's color. Or that moon troupe's white tux had one of those accidents Gen promised they would have should she ever come near them. Or that there's more than one of each color and everyone gets to wear any of those of some time. I don't care. She chose Miki's. :P That's all that counts. To me, anyway. ;)

I may have to post more about this dinner show because it has its moments. Like Mami making Maya-san (Misa Noeru) continously crack up on stage, to the point where she can't hold herself upright anymore. <3 <3

*grins* I was updating Mami's post-zuka profile on the TakaWiki and the question came up if the listing by year is enough or if I should try to organize it a bit more. So I looked at Rika's post-zuka profile for ideas :P and wow, that looks neat. I thought maybe I could do that with Mami's, too... But when I looked closer I realized that it's simply not possible. [ profile] shetan83 said Mami's dancing is energetic, but sort of all over the place. :D Looks like it's not just the dancing, it's her. XD Energetic and all over the place. :P <3 I loves her muchly.

I wasn't aware up to now that Rika played Genji. :o Wowowowow. I assume there's no commercial release or recording of that, is there? T____T (And Jen, now I understand your comment about the recent trend in roles for retired otokoyaku much better. :P)

kyanited: (Flower Baby Power)
Makoto Tsubasa, Shibuki Jun and Tachibana Sae had a Christmas dinner show in 1991 titled "Say Hello to E.T.".

(If anyone happens to have the song list for that one and would share their knowledge... I'd be incredibly thankful. XD I'm guessing it's advertised in one of the Graphs from that year... ^^)

kyanited: (Default)
So why did I think Lone Wolf was Mami's first lead?

Her first lead was "Le Grand Meaulnes" (1993), when she was still in Hana.
And it's written *everywhere*. I just never bothered to try to translate it. *shame*

This makes three bow hall leads total before she became top star. And the first shortly after her shinjin kouen time. :) (Yes I know others got it earlier!!! I don't care. At least not right now. Even though I love Tani.)
Considering the talk [a reference to Yura and TMS, not actual sienne-bashing] about her having no talent for singing, dancing or acting, this is pretty good. :P And I have a hard time buying the 'cool' thing... because... yeah, she's just too cuddly cute (Houmonsha, '96) to be mistaken for cool. XD

But I digress. Le Grand Meaulnes. A summary of the novel by Henri Alain-Fournier. (Mami is, of course, Augustin Meaulnes.)

And wouldn't we love to see it? baby!Mami, baby!Charlie, baby!Osa and baby!Komu together? :D (Mami's (VHS) and Komu's (DVD) sayonara show videos have footage... ^^)

(How could they waste a whole colored, glossy cover page on a drawing? T___T)

And look! The Houmonsha program even had something for [ profile] fannore. XD <3
kyanited: (Default)
Watching Le Bolero Rouge one could think Mami was about to retire and they were promoting Rika... :D

Rika as the hero with long, blonde curls (Oscar-style). And Mami as Death. Sorta.

I may have more thoughts on this than I thought... ~~~
kyanited: (Default)
Rika was crying on Mami's last day. Like, sob, snuffle & tears crying. <3

There were tears on Dan's face, too. Mami bravely fought the tears until the end. She had to pause several times, but there were no tears. BIG BOYS DON'T CRY.

I must wonder, though, one article says there have been 100,000 fans when Mami left the theater, and then in the radio program [ profile] babylonclo translated, they say an unprecedented 10,000 have waited for Wao...

Me thinks 100,000 is a bit much, indeed. But the streets *do* look very crowded...
