1. A food that comforts you:
Twinkies.
A good breakfast (= eggs, bacon, sausages, toast, grits, hashbrowns, waffles + gallons of coffee and orange juice + 2 hours)
2. A food you think is disgusting:
Grilled grasshoppers.
3. A food you think is silly:
Spray Cheese. "Milk" with only 0.3% fat.
So-called delicacies that originally have been poor people's food.
4. A food you associate with your childhood:
Pancakes. Oatmeal.
5. A food you associate with a particular place:
Couscous.
6. A food you associate with a friend:
Chicken & dumplings.
7. Your favorite drink/s:
Dr. Pepper, Ginger Ale
8. Your favorite fruit/s:
Grapefruit.
9. Your favorite vegetables:
Potatoes, Tomatoes
10. Any strange combinations you love?
No.
11. What did you eat on your last birthday?
Tiramisu.
12. What did you eat the last time you ate a meal with friends?
Pasta and vegetables au gratin.
13. Do you like to cook?
Yes.
14. Did your family eat together when you were a kid?
Yes.
15. Do you think of eating as a social activity, or just as an opportunity to fuel up?
Both, depends on where I am and what I'm doing and who's with me.
16. Do you like trying new, unfamiliar foods?
Yes. (Unless it's grilled grasshopers. Or maggots. Or something similar disgusting.)
17. Your opinion of the following:
- Spicy food? - I like it occasionally, e.g. at BBQ's.
- Garlic? - Heavenly.
- Onions? - They're tasty, but they make me suffer.
- Sushi? - Tried it only once. Was interesting, not my favorite food, but I'd try again. (But only in a restaurant with a good reputation or recommended by someone I trust.)
- Coffee? - Elixir of life.
- Tea? - Only herbal/fruit tea without artificial flavoring. Takes too much time. I usually miss the right temperature.
- Alcohol? - Makes me tired and I don't sleep well, so I neither drink often nor much. I'm uncomfortable around drinking/drunk people.
- Chocolate? Medicine. Quality instead of quantity. Milk chocolate with 55% cocoa.
- Tofu? Never tried it. Silly food. If I want something with the taste and texture of meat, I'll eat meat.
- Fast food? Expensive, unhealthy and fails to satisfy hunger. I have my bi-monthly Mickey D's all-you-can-eat, though, to satisfy the appetite and have me disgusted again for the next 2 months.
- Energy bars? Good for atheletes and other people who need light food that doesn't strain the body but is rich in calories (= not for me).
- Soymilk? Mom says it's good for women her age.
18. What did you last eat?
Steak Tartare.
19. Any idea what your next meal will be? Who will you eat it with?
Breakfast: coffee, whole wheat flakes, a bagel with pineapple/orange jam. Alone.
20. Something you ate once and have been craving ever since?
Panna cotta with strawberry sauce.

Date: 2007-07-28 08:04 pm (UTC)I should have put "meat substitutes" as a food I consider silly. I love tofu, but not when it's been beaten into submission to make it seem like meat. If you ever decide to try it, try and get something where it's just being nicely spiced or fried or whatever and used as *tofu*. In it's natural state, it really doesn't have the "taste and texture of meat"...
