A show for everyone.

Silver Rose Chronicle TakaWiki page with summary.
I'm so dead I have no words for how dead I am.
2.5 hours and I've been put through the emotional wringer, a real roller coaster of emotions.
I love this show. And I love Yukigumi. 2.5 hours and I did not miss Hiromi. *doesn't even feel bad*
The sole reason why I bought this DVD was the preview clip on the TCA website.
I did not like the poster or the story, and still am not a fan of vampires.
Which is... not entirely true *cough* now.
It was clear that I needed this Yumiko-centered show of Yumiko being awesome (-ly nerdy/dorky).
Yumiko was absolutely great. And the rest of the cast, too. This is a show everyone can enjoy without reservations. Even if you don't like any particular actress in the cast, the music, the singing, the acting, the dancing, and the costumes are truly enjoyable. ^^ You don't have to make a compromise anywhere.
Heck, there is even a PLOT that pretty much keeps going through all the 2.5 hours. <3
(Many thanks to
mizukusa for clarifying some situations.)
Ok, if you have the "You killed my father, prepare to die." kind of reservation toward Yumiko you /may/ not enjoy this show, but Elliot and his friends are so lovable... this show may heal the wounds.
Which bring me to the point where I'm waving my white flag.
I did have mild reservations toward Kaname, and I admit I got this show with a thought of "despite Kaname being second otokoyaku", and there were really only two options how this would play out. And just let me say there's no way anyone can not like Chrisopher!Kaname. It's impossible.
OK. Ok, ok, ok. Of course she won the moment she was at the center of utmost angst. Yes. I'm a sucker for angst, and scenes like that... yes, my love extends to everyone involved.
And no, I cannot distinguish between Christopher and Kaname here. They are perfect for each other, and the only fitting reference is Christopher!Kaname or Kaname!Christopher, depending on context. :P
But... Yumiko. Yumiko seems to really love this role. She enjoys being Elliot, especially dorky Elliot. Her thousand faces, the way she moves, the way she turns into Elliot... are perfect, and she totally owns the stage, and knows it, too, and obviously has fun being funny. <3
Yumiko 2.1 who enjoys the spotlight and plays with it. :3

Upon rewatching, I noticed that I started to really like Kaname!Christopher when he softened a bit, giving in to Elliot and his friends, but desperately tried to keep his cool, untouchable image.
Cue clip.
I love his growling/hissing at the end. It's XD squee! adorable.
I totally realize that I did not say anything about the musumeyaku.
Natsuki proved to be adorable, and adoring Yumiko. XD She did not quite seem like a vampire who has already lived for at least a few decades. In fact... it seems like she's been hibernating or hiding somewhere... the way she looked at the world and seemed fascinated by the modern world. I blame my limited understanding of plot and dialogue for that.
Mika was hilarious. I just say 'hand waving'. The way she approaches Christopher is funny, and fitting. Christopher and Virgina are a great match. To say more here would spoil too much.
The other musumeyaku sticking out and burning herself into my memory was Mayumi (Itsumine Aki). Oh, how I loved her Ursula, lol. (I think she may have healed my decade-old Ursula-trauma caused by Disney's "The Little Mermaid".)
Ok. Points of critique:
- Not enough dancing vampires.
- Not enough happy couples in the end.
- Yumiko may get another show, but it will be hard to top this one.

Beautiful Yumiko |
Alan's Film I've been told that at least in one of the live performances the film didn't start... |
Vampire choreography One of the few points of critique is that there's not enough dancing vampires. No, I don't like vampires, but dancing vampires are very likable. |
Kitarou の Hellsing That's pretty much what she looks like all through the show, even as Brian. |
"I iseth prettier than thou!!" Kaname doing the Seshi. |
"We will see about that!!" |
I don't think this needs any comment. |
Christopher - no gentlemen He lets his little sister carry the huge suitcases. They don't seem to be particularly heavy, though. |
Blood Brothers Hellsing's grandson Brian and his team. |
ELLIOT Part of the hillarity is how Elliot *moves*... |
ELLIOT ... which is hard to capture, but I think you get the idea. |
ELLIOT. Those glasses only emphasize her eyes... |
Phones occasionally bite. |
But Elliot bites back!! |
The many faces of Yumiko #34750 |
The many faces of Yumiko #34751 |
The many faces of Yumiko #34752 THOSE EYES. I have no words. |
The many poses of Yumiko #81724 |
Elliot dreams away on his way home... |
Then he sees his new neighbor... |
... Kaname! Who looks at him... |
And compliments his style. "Oshare da na!" (I've been told on other days, he complimented the hairstyle.) |
Elliot is happy. |
And shy. |
He doesn't often get compliments from pretty strangers. |
And he is pretty impressed by Christopher's sister Annabelle. XD |
Mini-Sou |
Iron Lady Keiko |
I'm sorry. |
I couldn't resist. |
Keiko Considering Brian's suggestion. |
Nerd Squad. Elliot's friends: Gregory, Daniel and Abraham. (ltr) |
My New Love #1 Renjou Makoto, on my radar since I've seen Wonderland. XD |
Club Nosferatu They tease Elliot. |
But we know already... |
... Elliot bites back. |
He's scares himself sometimes. |
Poking Yumiko's dimple. Thousands of fans are envious. |
Sexy Elliot. Not. |
I just love this pose. |
Elliot get's love advice. |
While Elliot gets redressed, we are entertained by the nerd squad and inventory abusing wanna-be popstars. We are amused, of course. |
New Elliot. Cue clip |
Where have we seen this before...? |
Oops... |
Seriously, where? |
Aha! Someone's been watching too much Osa, lol. |
Deadly cuteness. |
Yumiko does a Yuri impression. |
The future top couple. My point |
Scenes we never saw I After Sissi rejected him... |
Scenes we never saw II Toddy starts to drink. |
Scenes we never saw III One of the not-so-Dark Angels... |
Scenes we never saw IV ... wants to comfort him, but... |
Scenes we never saw V ... it's impossible... |
Scenes we never saw VI ... because |
Scenes we never saw VII He's really very sorry. |
Scenes we never saw VIII Rudolph writes love letters to his new friend Toddy... |
Scenes we never saw IX ... while Sissi (Mika) has a change of heart. |
My New Love #2 NAGI! ("Bart". I don't know why the TakaWiki lists her character as Phillip.) |
Seriously. |
No words. |
The show does indeed have its moments... |
More Nagi. I love how she practically towers over tiny Yumiko. Cue clip. |
OSCAAARRR!!! |
AAANNNNDRRREE!!! |
The many faces of Yumiko #68687 |
Mini-Sou |
Everyone wants Elliot. XD |
Meanwhile the wanna-be popstars have become popstars. Sort of. *hearts the sixties* XD |
My New Love #3 Reno! More of this cutie, please. She plays the broomstick with ecstatic abandon. <3 |
Told you. EVERYONE wants a bit(e) of Elliot now. |
Erhem. How did this cap get here? >__> |
Dr. Keiko |
Someone's checking out Christopher's butt. |
Elliot, of course, fails to look in the right places. |
Tod & revolutionaries, vampire & nerd squad - where's the difference? Christopher, however, fears for his cool factor and is not amused. |
!!SPOILER WARNING!! *** THIS IS AS FAR AS THE TAKAWIKI PLOT SUMMARY GOES. *** *** THE NEXT PART MAY SPOIL THE END FOR YOU *** S P O I L E R S P A C E | |
But when Elliot seeks his protection... |
... he can't refuse. <3 <3 <3 |
Did I say EVERYONE wants Elliot? |
Well, I meant it. XD |
More Nagi love. Now she's Steve, Bart's son. XD |
And another one, for good measure. |
Daniel I've been told one day the moustache fell off and Nagi couldn't stop laughing. Well, it doesn't look particularly safe here, either... |
But Steve isn't there to visit Daniel, he came for... |
FRANZ!!! Who tells him "Yami ga hirogatteiru" ^^ |
Franz learned his lesson. Living a lifespan without the girl means you get her for eternity. :P |
COMBIIIIIII!!! |
Gah, they're so cute. |
Look who's looking!! XD |
Aw, Christopher. <3 |
Dum-dee-dum-dee-dum... |
